JPMorgan Chase and Coinbase Partnership

JPMorgan Chase (NYSE: JPM) and Coinbase (NASDAQ: COIN) have unveiled a strategic alliance aimed at increasing convenience, choice, and security for customers engaging in the digital asset economy. The partnership is designed to add new pathways for funding crypto purchases while maintaining the privacy and protections expected from both institutions.

In its first phase, the collaboration will deliver several new capabilities for mutual customers:

  • Direct Bank-to-Wallet Link: Using JPMorgan's secure API, Chase customers will be able to connect their bank accounts directly to Coinbase wallets. This connection is intended to streamline transfers while retaining the security and data privacy standards associated with Chase.
  • Rewards Point Transfers: Chase customers will gain the ability to convert their Chase Ultimate Rewards® points into funds for their Coinbase accounts—a first for a major credit card rewards program to integrate with a crypto wallet.
  • Credit Card Funding: Beginning in Fall 2025, eligible Chase credit cards can be used to fund Coinbase accounts.

The direct bank-to-wallet and rewards transfer features are scheduled to launch in 2026, while credit card funding will become available later this year.

Melissa Feldsher, Head of Payments and Lending Innovation at JPMorgan Chase, said the initiative reflects the bank's commitment to empowering customers: "By working with Coinbase, we're offering more ways to use money and rewards while ensuring the same security and privacy our customers rely on. Ultimate Rewards continues to be one of the most flexible loyalty programs in the market, and this integration adds a seamless, secure route into cryptocurrency."

Max Branzburg, Head of Consumer & Business Products at Coinbase, added: "Our work with JPMorgan Chase is about lowering barriers and expanding access to the future of financial services onchain. This partnership will help bring the next generation of consumers into crypto through trusted, familiar channels."
